I’ve always loved springtime and the reprieve from the cold of winter. Signs of spring are everywhere around us, as the days are getting longer and mostly warmer. Flowers are starting to pop out in my yard and all our trees have fat buds. Another hopeful sign this year is that more and more people are getting vaccinated. Let’s hope the number of new cases moves in the right direction as we all try to get back to something a little more like our old normal.
Looking back a year ago, we all probably had the worst Spring ever. I was personally worried about all our futures, and whether or not the studio would be able to survive. I don’t need to remind you all how dire it seemed at the time. We all had so many questions but very little clarity about how it would all play out.
Gradually we have adjusted to this new way of life. Many small businesses didn’t survive the shutdowns and the restrictions that were needed to keep us all safe.
Fortunately Albany Dance & Fitness pulled through with the help of online classes, choreography that fits into many different small spaces, a masks that cover smiles, a supply of disinfecting wipes, and more importantly support and love from all of you. I can never thank you all enough.
So what does the future hold for the studio? Well frankly, we aren’t out of the woods yet, and so much depends on how things go over the next few months. What I can say is I plan to continue to hold online classes and gradually add some more in-studio classes where possible. All in studio classes will still follow the original safety plan until new requirements are set by New York State. That means we all still have to dance with our masks, have our temperatures taken at the door, and remain socially distanced.
