If you’re like me and judge success by how much joy you can bring to people, then the 2019 Open House was a great success. There’s nothing like a roomful of dancing, smiling people learning new steps and making new acquaintances. 

When we opened back in 2011, we held an open house to market the studio. Each year the event seems to grow bigger. Each one has been wonderful but this year’s event stands out in my mind – the energy level was out of this world!

Where did that positive energy come from? Maybe it came from all the new faces that came to dance with us for the first time? Or was it from the many longtime students that not only come to Open House each year but attend classes every week? 

Many attendees had never taken a dance class before. It makes me happy to hear that they were able to try classes. One of my goals for the studio was to build a place for adults to feel comfortable dancing and and feel positive about their bodies. 

Not everyone that came by danced. I was touched by the students who stop by to say hello even though they weren’t able to participate due to injuries. 

Of course I couldn’t have pulled off this event without the help of the wonderful teachers that showcased their classes that day. And family and friends assisted with other aspects so that I could be a part of the event.

I love doing it and plan to keep it up.
