I’m happy to report that once again we are offering group classes in the studio!
We started our reopening process very slowly by first offering private lessons. Those first sessions proved to me that I could offer classes while wearing a mask and keeping a safe distance apart from each other. The next step was to offer a few trial small group classes, to make sure that my procedures would scale up to keep the larger groups safe. Having had classes with as many as six students, I’m confident that the plan does work.
To make it work, we’ve had to make many changes to the way the studio functions. Things are very different now. To meet NYS Guidelines and to do the best we can to prevent the spread of the virus, we’ve adopted Coivid-19 policies, that affect everything from attending class to how we move about the studio.
Unfortunately we can’t accommodate as many classes as before to allow for exit/entry of students and to make sure surfaces are wiped down in between classes. Some of your favorite classes and instructors are returning in the next few weeks and some will be added later on.
When I started ADF nine years ago, I decided to offer all my classes on a drop in basis, rather than having students pay for an entire session. I wanted it to be as easy for you to fit dance and fitness into your life. Based on the feedback I’ve gotten over the years, you all seemed to like the freedom that system gave you.
As much as I’d love to continue that method, it is no longer possible. Now we must limit the number of students in the class to keep within social distancing requirements. For my classes and the Saturday Ballet class, you will now need to sign up ahead of time through our website. Slots are limited and they are filled on a first come first served basis. You can also pay for classes online as well as when you attend. Registration for classes offered by other instructors will be handled by that instructor.
While the brick and mortar studio has been closed, many of you have been joining me for online classes. My plan is to continue those classes for as long as is necessary. This way you have the option of attending class at home or in the studio. I know that many of you aren’t comfortable with coming back to the studio just yet. And through the wonders of the internet, I’ve even started to get some students from locations outside of the 518!
Please check out our class schedule of online and in studio classes. I’ll keep you informed as we add more classes.
